40 New Age Lane Birthday Card!

It is Inspiration Wednesday at The Cutting Cafe and our theme this week was home.  We had two files to choose from, the Welcome Home Printable Stamp Set, or the House Shaped Card & Envelope Template Cutting File, which I used.  My cousin turned 40 this past weekend and was home for her big one, so I made this card for her.

I tried a new technique with my Silhouette Cameo on this project.  I used the fill feature in the Designer Studio to fill in the yellow polkadot pattern, the and the red elements on the card.  Then I layered the pieces onto the house shape front piece and sent it to my printer.  I hand cut it but could have gone a step further and used the print and cut feature, a nice feature wit the Cameo.

Baby Brag Book

It’s time for another project for The Cutting Cafe!  This week we had the theme of baby!  This fit right in for me as my staff person I made the baby shower items for, had her baby so I decided to use the Diaper Shaped Card & Invite Set Template – Cutting File, and the Baby Boy Hershey Kiss Bottoms Printable Stamp Set to create this brag book for her.

I used my Zutter Bind It All for the first time (I have had it over a year!)  It was really easy to use.  I kept the embellishments very simple on the inside.  I just used stickers since I had to make sure the book would close.  I really liked the way it turned out.  Here are more pictures…

View Finder Reel Card, Envelope, and Framed Card

This week at The Cutting Cafe, we got to work with a file that I am excited about.  I actually asked Regina if she would create a Viewmaster reel and she did!  Thanks Regina!  It is a wonderful file and includes a card, reels, and sentiments and labels.  The actual title of the file is the VIEW FINDER REEL FUN SET and it is indeed fun!  Be sure to visit The Cutting Cafe Blog for Inspiration Wednesday!  My fellow design team members will have plenty of projects for you to see!  Plus, leave a comment and you will be eligible to win three free files in next week’s drawing!

View Finder Reel Card and Envelope

I made two projects.  The first is a card and envelope for my cousin’s birthday.  I used a piece of Anna Griffin gold foil and cream zebra print paper.  I love it.  The view reel is an overlay to the word reel.  Here are a couple more shots…

Next, my hubby’s birthday is coming up this week, and I wanted to do something other than the traditional card.  So I made a viewfinder 8 x 10 framed card…

I used Simple Stories patterned paper and solid cardstock to create the reel and mat so to speak.  I created thumbnail photos with a free thumbnail maker I found online an inserted them in the reel frames.  I love it and hope he does too.  Here are a few more photos of it…

One of my staff members is having a baby.  We are having a baby shower and I made a card for staff to sign and give to her.  I used the adorable Overalls Shaped Card Template from The Cutting Cafe.  In order to have more room for signatures, I put the shaped card on top of a card base so it can be opened for signatures as well as the inside left of the card…

I used the Baby Inside Greetings Printable Stamp Set also from The Cutting Cafe for the sentiment…

Sometimes I think we have gotten so used to so so or even bad service that we are somewhat surprised when we get good service.  I definitely try to let people know when I have received great service so that the company, or giver of the great service is acknowledged.

Recently I got a Silhouette Cameo and am still learning how to use it but so far it works like a charm.  I just have to learn the software.  Anyway, I got gift cards to the Silhouette Online Store with my machine.  This past week, the store had all files on sale for 50% off and it was advertised to end at 11:59 p.m. PDT on May 2.

Of course I waited to the last couple hours of the sale to take advantage.  I really had not had time to go through and try to find files I wanted until last night.  Well, at about 1:00 a.m. CDT which is 11:00 p.m. PDT, I was adding things to my cart and noticed that the pricing was all back to regular price.  I was not happy since the email I receive yesterday said the sale ended at 11:59 p.m. PDT.  I still had 59 minutes left to shop!

I immediately sent an email to the store’s online support explaining that they had ended the sale early and I was still shopping.  I got an email today apologizing for the error and asking me how many files I was planning to buy.  The email went on to say that they would credit my account enough to make up for the difference in regular and sale price so that I would still be able to buy the files at the half off.

Within two minutes of my responding via email with the number of files I was planning to buy, my account was credited!  Two minutes! Now that was truly great service.  There was no telling me I was mistaken, or that I should have shopped earlier.  It was just…ok, we have a solution and we will fix it as close to immediately as we possibly can.

Thank you Silhouette Online Store Support!  You service is definitely appreciated!

I needed a thank you card and it was just perfect that we could choose any file to work with that we wanted to this week.  I chose to work with the new Many Thanks Printable Set.  This file has many ways to say thank you.  I chose to use ‘thanks for the gift.’  I made my own background stamp by cutting and pasting one of the sentiments over and over.  I also used one of the tag shaped sentiments to pop up in the bottom right corner.

I love the bright rainbow paper and used it and the turquoise on the inside also…

Beautiful Rose Vase

It is Inspiration Wednesday…yep I missed it last week.  But worked called.  I am back this week though with another project from The Cutting Cafe!  This week we worked with the Beautiful Rose Printable Stamp Set.  This file has so many images and sentiments that are great for Mother’s Day, birthdays, graduations, or any other occasion you would like to give a rose.

I want to thank my hubby who actually helped me with this project.  He suggested making a stem, which he did, and also paper piecing the rose, which he also did!  Thanks Sweets!

A fellow YouTube crafter, Sloane, and I decided to do a one-on-one stick pin swap as we both had a bunch of beads that we had left from group swaps and had not used.  So we challenged ourselves to do a swap to make us use some of those beads!

Here are the ones I made for her.  I wanted to do a little something extra for her so I made a stick pin holder from a $2 birdcage from Michaels and I added a few goodies for her.

Sloane used hat pins for some of the ones she made for me.  I loved them.  They are really long.  She used a lot of filigree beads and caps which is something I have not used in making stick pins.  So it was perfect for me since I didn’t have any like this!
