Birthday Bendy Card

Birthday Bendy Card

Every so often you find something in the crafting world that you have never heard of.  Most recently I came across a bendy card file.  So I had to do some Googling to see what I came up with.  I found some examples from the very simple to the over-the-top.  So I decided to give it a try.

Bendy cards curve out so that the card domes out, somewhat like if you would cut a round ball in half.  You would have a flat back with a dome on it.  There are little slots and tabs to hold it close.  I found a few versions at the Silhouette Online Store but liked this one with the soft curve.

I decided to use lots of flowers and bling to decorate mine but I saw plenty that people made scenes on, etc.  Here are a few more views…

I hope you will try a bendy card as they are really fun to make and give you awesome results.  Thanks for stopping by.  Before you go, here is my video that explains what I did and shows the inside of the card…

Tutorial for The Cutting Cafe’s Card in a Box

26 May

Hello All!  I hope you have had an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend!  As you know, I have fallen in love with the card in a box, also known as a pop up box card.  Regina at The Cutting Cafe has created a file, Card in a Box, to make the box and another file, Card in a Box Embellishment Set, to decorate the box.  Make sure you get these files as they are wonderful and you can create and create, and create many cards in a box!

Although these look a bit intimidating, they are not and I have a tutorial to show you how easy they are to do.  Thanks for stopping by!

This week at The Cutting Cafe marks the beginning of a new design team term and we are celebrating newness with spring tulips!  Make sure you head over to the blog and check out this week’s post.  I am sure you will find some amazing projects to inspire you!  Be sure to leave a comment to be entered into a drawing to win three free files. Plus, we love to read your comments.

I have been wanting to make a box card since I have been seeing them everywhere.  The Tulip Card Set was the perfect file for me to use to make one!  The file is very versatile and has three different card versions you can make.  I used the windows and the tulips for this card.  The actual box card was a file I got from the Silhouette store and made the perfect base for the tulips.

Many Thanks Thank you Cards

Many Thanks Thank you Cards

This week marks the last week for the current design team at The Cutting Cafe so we could choose any file we wanted.  Since I needed to make a lot of thank cards, I used the Many Thanks Printable Stamp Set.  Some of you may or may not know this, but not all the files available are cut files.  There are many printable stamp sets to choose from also.  This particular set has several different thank you sayings in three different formats.  I used all three of the formats in my cards, cutting them out with punches or Spellbinders DIes..

Turned Up Embellishment Swap on YouTube

Turned Up Embellishment Swap Packaging

I participated in a swap on YouTube hosted by my friend Tmika (Scrapdaworld on YT) for which we had to make a stamped tag with some type of trim or embellishment at the top, a hand made fabric flower, and two embellishments, i.e. stick pins, charms, etc.  Then we had to include three coordinating trims at least 24 inches each.

We could choose to be in either a shabby chic group or a vintage group which I chose.  There were four in a group so three had to be sent in.  I used a sewing them and made my tag from a spool file , used a sewing machine file (both from The Cutting Cafe) to hold stick pins which had mini spools on them, and used sewing paper.

My One Hundreth Post – Dedicated to My Grandmother

7 Feb

I cannot believe it but this is my 100th post!  Wow that went fast.  I am dedicating this to the memory of my grandmother who just passed away last week.  My grandmother turned 103 on November 2 and was doing very well.  But she said she was tire and ready to go on.  So…she did.  I am sad, but also happy that she passed away with no pain and in total peace!  She will be missed but we have our memories to hold on to.

My dad wanted to do some photo boards and was just going to put pictures on a board until he thought about it and called me to see if I could do it.  I had a very busy work week this week and I drive 70 miles each way to work.  But, of course I found time to make these photo boards that will be displayed at her funeral tomorrow.  They are nothing overly decorated, just simple things that fous on the pictures.  Here are the three boards I made.

Snow Many Wishes Birthday Card – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

15 Jan
Snow Many Wishes Birthday Card

Snow Many Wishes Birthday Card

I’m back with another design team project for The Cutting Cafe!  This week we had several files to choose from.  But because I am in the midwest and we just have been bombarded with snowfall after snowfall (not to mention up to 50 degree below zero wind chills), I decided to use the Snow Word Shaped Card for my project.

I have an aunt whose birthday is this week so I am sending her “snow many wishes for a happy birthday”!  I wanted the card to be shiny and sparkling and achieved this by using Recollections Mercury Glass paper from this year’s Christmas line at Michaels for the base, Cloud Nine pearlescent shimmer paper for the topper word, and DCWV glitter paper for the final topper pieces which look like they are dripping at the bottom.  I added some glitter snowflakes I punched out with a Fiskars punch and used a holographic type red dot in the centers.  I also added a silver and gold glittered present shaped sticker.  Here are more views…

I loved the way it turned out!  Snow, snow, snow…

OK…really I am saying no more snow!  Enough is enough!  But I digress.  The other files that we could use this week were the Rainbow Shaped Card Set, the Rain Boots Shaped Card Template, and the Fun With Snowflake Template File.  So with so many files to choose from, the weekly post of design team projects on The Cutting Cafe’s Blog is going to be awesome!  There is sure to be a lot of variety.  So head on over there and check it out.  AND, while you are there, leave a comment!  Number one, we love reading them, and number 2 you will be entered into a drawing for next week to win three free files of your choice.  Don’t miss out on your chance every week!

Well, time to say goodbye for now but watch for upcoming Valentine’s Day projects!  Before you go, here is this week’s video.  Thanks for stopping by!

Anniversary Word Card – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Anniversary Card

Anniversary Card

It’s project time at The Cutting Cafe and this week we could choose any file we wanted to work with.  There are so many available, but before we move into Christmas projects, I decided to make an anniversary card for my aunt and uncle who are celebrating 34 years of marriage!

The Anniversary Shaped Word Card Template is a breeze to make.  I cut out a base in kraft cardstock, a topper in black and tan, and the word in tan with a gold metallic pattern.  I added sheer black ribbon, some flowers, and  a red glitter accent heart for love.  I also added dots on some of the letters with a Viva Decor pearl pen.  The sentiments from both outside and inside come with the file along with several others.

With Much Appreciation Gift Card Holders – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

With Much Appreciation Gift Card Holders

This week at The Cutting Cafe we focused on Thanksgiving and being thankful. We had a choice of three files to use. I used the So Thankful Circle Word Printable Stamp Set. The other sets were the Turkey Shaped Card , and the Gobble Word Shaped Card.  I also used the Gift Card Holder Set.

I made four gift card holders to give to young panelists for a program that I put together for my organization’s  big manufacturing expo.  They were very simple to make with the files.  I just added patterned paper and the sentiment from the Thankful Circle Word set.  If you don’t even have to have an electronic die cutting machine.  All of the files at The Cutting Cafe come in a PDF format so you can hand cut them.

Head over to The Cutting Cafe Blog later this week to see all the design team projects! Make sure you leave a comment so that you can be eligible to win three files of your choice during next week’s drawing.

Thanks for stopping by, but before you go, take a look at my video of the project:
