Don’t Be Scared Birthday Card – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Don’t Be Scared Birthday Card

It is time for another design team project for The Cutting Cafe!  This week we could use any Halloween files we wanted to.  We could make something for Halloween or some other theme.  I went with a birthday theme for a card for my uncle.  One of my aunts loves to say, “don’t be scared,” so I used that phrase for the sentiment which I put on the Eek Background Printable Stamp, and layered on top of the Chevron Halloween Background Set.  I used the Distressed font from Creating Keepsakes.

On the inside I used more of the Chevron and the sentiment reads …it’s just another birthday!  Have a happy day!  I used Spellbinders dies to make the shapes my sentiments are on.  Here are close-ups of the top and bottom embellishments…

Funny Shaped Car Birthday Card – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Funny Shaped Car Card

Funny Shaped Car Card

This week we focus on boys at The Cutting Cafe. We had a choice of three files, the All About Boys Printable Stamp Set, the Overalls Shaped Card, or the Funny Car Shaped Card and Treat Box Set.

I just made a simple card using the topper from the set.  I found the cute paper from Queen & Co. and it fit the bill!  I just kept it very simple but it is a funny card for my cousin who is turning 16 and just starting to drive.  The sentiment says beep beep at the top and get off the road, 16 year old driver coming soon.

Take a visit to The Cutting Cafe Blog on Wednesday afternoon to see all the projects the team comes up with.  Leave a comment for a chance to win three files! Thanks for watching!  Here’s the YouTube video…

A Myriad of Cards and an Altered Frame

8 Sep

The month of August was a very busy month as I had several birthdays and anniversaries to do cards for and a frame.  Plus I promised I would make a few Christmas cards for a friend’s mother.  I had planned to do posts as I went along, but I am just now getting to the post.  So, I am doing a group post.  If you want to know more about any one item, I do have videos on my YouTube channel of them all.  To get to my channel, click on the My YouTube Channel to the right of this post.  Thanks for stopping by!

Now here is my project…

Suitcase Mini Book Altered Frame

Suitcase Mini Book Altered Frame

I have created an altered picture frame using the Suitcase Mini Book to add more photos (there are five pages under the decorated cover of the suitcase).  I used K & Company’s Around the World by Brenda Walton paper and embellishments.  I added my own sentiment, which I punched out with a scalloped square punch.  The corners and handle also come in the file.  The straps come in the file also, but I did not use them, instead using a snakeskin pattern ribbon.  I used tiny flat back pearls as the rivets and framed pearl brads to hold all the pages together at the handles.  This was a fun project!  Here are a couple more views…

High Heel Shoe Birthday Card The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

14 Aug
High Heel Shoe Birthday Card

High Heel Shoe Birthday Card

This week’s file from The Cutting Cafe was definitely up my alley!  I love shoes and purses (hint hint) and this High Heel Shoe Shaped Card is the bomb, the business (ode to Shanta), and just plain fantastic!  There are many layers and sentiments to help you make this your own.  I could make 50 of them and they would all end up looking very different depending on the layers I use and the papers.  Unfortunately, the picture does not really do it justice.  The card is just awesome and the person I gave it to most definitely thought so!

I used a black shimmer cardstock with lime green and silver polka dot glitter paper, and a light green for the base and insole.  I used some sunburst punches on the heel to give it a peek-a-boo effect and show some of the glitter paper.  I used a glitter flower and a ribbon slider and mint green half back pearl to finish the bows.  I absolutely love this card and will be making more of them very soon!  Here are a few more pics…

We did have another file we could use this week and it is really cute too.  The Vintage Boot Shaped Card is really nice to make a shabby chic card with.  Well thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to head over to The Cutting Cafe Blog later on Wednesday afternoon for Inspiration Wednesday, where Regina will post all of this week’s design team projects.  Check out the video…

It’s Christmas in July – Snowman Snow Globe Shaped Card – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Snowman Snow Globe Shaped Christmas Card Angled View

Snowman Snow Globe Shaped Christmas Card Angled View

It is Christmas in July week for The Cutting Cafe!  So in honor of this tradition, we had three Christmas files to choose from this week – Christmas Card Fun, Christmas Car Printable Stamp, and the one I chose, the Snow Globe Shaped Card.  This file was so fun and it is super easy to do whether you cut it by hand (all the files come in a PDF version) or cut it by electronic methods (all files come in SVG, MTC, and other versions).

I used DCWV printed cardstock for the base.  For the globe, I used DCWV glitter paper and then fussy cut the snowman from the Memories Never Melt stack from Recollections that I got at Michaels last year.  On top of those two layers, I cut out a clear plastic layer from old Spellbinders packaging to give the feel of glass.  The bow and green trim come with the file as do several sentiments that you can add around the globe.  I added red tinsel to give it some texture and whimsy.  Here are a few more shots of it…

This week I brought out the bling for my project for The Cutting Cafe.  The theme this week was butterflies!  We had three file to choose from:  The Butterfly Shaped Card, The Social Butterfly Printable Stamp Set, and The Butterfly Treat Box which I used.  I love this file and I love butterflies so I put a lot of them on this project!

Gifts for YouTube Meet Up Weekend

25 Jun

This past weekend, a few of my crafty YouTube friends and I decided to get together and meet.  We spent the weekend getting to know each other, shopping, and crafting.  It was great!  I enjoyed it so much!  One of the things we did was bring was a card, a hand made item, and a scrappy gift for each person.  I saw a video from MsLiberty25 on YouTube where she showed a cupcake stand and cupcake boxes she made for her entry for the Graphic 45 design team call.  She included a tutorial and I just had to make one, or in this case four.  I need to make one more for me!

Paper Cupcakes and Cupcake Boxes

Paper Cupcakes and Cupcake Boxes

This was a labor intensive project but it turned out beautifully.  Each of the cupcake tops is made from one inch flowers punched out from an entire 12 x 12 sheet of paper.  They are attached to half of a styrofoam ball with pins from the sewing notions wall.  Here are some individual photos of the cupcakes which are actually boxes (the tops come off)…

Pink Cupcake Box Green Cupcake Box White Cupcake Box Yellow Cupcake Box

I made the Cupcake Box with Lid Template Cutting File from The Cutting Cafe to hold the cupcakes.  Unfortunately, I re-sized the box but the top came out too big as I did not re-size it correctly.  I did not have more paper or more time to re-do the tops so I had to add adhesive to help the tops stay on.  I cut out the top using the circle shaped cutout and I used old packaging to add an acrylic window.  I used circle sentiments on the lid and front from the All About Cupcakes Printable Stamps File also from The Cutting Cafe.

Next I made very quick cards using the Cupcake Printable Stamp Set 1
