This week marks the new term for The Cutting Cafe Design Team. Welcome to our new team members! In honor of the new team, we could choose any file we wanted to work with from The Cutting Cafe for this week’s project. I chose the Dress Shaped Card Template Cutting File and Invite Set.
I love the way my project turned out. It is for a little 7-year-old girl in my life who was in a pageant recently. She won the formal category, along with a couple other categories, and placed in the top 30 out of a lot of other contestants (148 others I think). Her dress was royal blue and silver and it had organza ruffles from the waist to the floor. The top was sleeveless and has silver sequins and beading.
She asked if I could “make her one of those things to put the pictures in.” She meant a photo album but she couldn’t think of what it was called at the time she asked. So, I made her one just for her to put her favorite pictures from the event in. I can’t wait to see her face when she sees it! She is going to love it!
I enlarged the dress shape 165% making it around 11.9″ x 6.5″ so it is a nice size. I actually cut out old gift boxes as the page bases and covered them with paper. I just added embellishments and a few fold outs so that she could get more than one picture on several of the pages. Below are the individual pages and the video. Be sure to stop by The Cutting Cafe Blog on Wednesday afternoon for Inspiration Wednesday to see all the design team projects! Leave a comment and you just might be selected to win three free files next week!
It is high heeled shoe #2! I just love this file and I had another friend celebrating a birthday. But, she is a shoe lover and she loves black and white zebra with red. So I just had to make this for her! Besides, I just love this file. It is from The Cutting Cafe and is the High Heel Shoe Shaped Card. I know this file will get lots of use. If you want to see more shoes, this was a design team project a couple weeks ago. Click here to see the things the team came up with! Below are a couple more pictures and be sure to watch the video for more details. Thanks for stopping by!

My project features the Suitcase Mini Book file. Please leave a comment below and I will randomly select a winner on Saturday (have comments made by noon central time) to receive the file! How exciting is that?! If you are hopping along in order, you should have come here from Lisa Minckler’s blog. If not, head to the beginning of the hop with Regina Easter’s blog. Just in case you get lost, follow the order below:
Now here is my project…
I have created an altered picture frame using the Suitcase Mini Book to add more photos (there are five pages under the decorated cover of the suitcase). I used K & Company’s Around the World by Brenda Walton paper and embellishments. I added my own sentiment, which I punched out with a scalloped square punch. The corners and handle also come in the file. The straps come in the file also, but I did not use them, instead using a snakeskin pattern ribbon. I used tiny flat back pearls as the rivets and framed pearl brads to hold all the pages together at the handles. This was a fun project! Here are a couple more views…
Remember, leave a comment by noon central time on Saturday, August 31 and you could win the Suitcase Mini Book File! To continue on with the blog hop, you should now go to visit Leslie Foley! If you want to watch my video before you hop to Leslie’s blog, here it is…thanks for watching!
Girly girl projects continue at The Cutting Cafe with purse project week! YES! I love purses, just like I love shoes! And we had two files to work with that offer tons of options. I used both. The “C” background that I used to make the paper with comes in the Assorted Purse Boxes file that has about five or six purses and accessories. The rest of my project comes in the Purse Shaped Card and Treat Box file.
There are several layers in this file. I used the outline/shadow in black, the top in the “C” paper I made, the upper top and handle in a red croc print paper, and then I used the card base and the box base. I added a tag cut from a sizzix die and layered a sentiment from the file on it. I attached it with Tim Holtz ball chain to mimic a real Coach bag. The sentiment in the card also comes in the file.
I love them! I can’t wait to make more. Here are more views…

This week’s file from The Cutting Cafe was definitely up my alley! I love shoes and purses (hint hint) and this High Heel Shoe Shaped Card is the bomb, the business (ode to Shanta), and just plain fantastic! There are many layers and sentiments to help you make this your own. I could make 50 of them and they would all end up looking very different depending on the layers I use and the papers. Unfortunately, the picture does not really do it justice. The card is just awesome and the person I gave it to most definitely thought so!
I used a black shimmer cardstock with lime green and silver polka dot glitter paper, and a light green for the base and insole. I used some sunburst punches on the heel to give it a peek-a-boo effect and show some of the glitter paper. I used a glitter flower and a ribbon slider and mint green half back pearl to finish the bows. I absolutely love this card and will be making more of them very soon! Here are a few more pics…
We did have another file we could use this week and it is really cute too. The Vintage Boot Shaped Card is really nice to make a shabby chic card with. Well thanks for stopping by. Be sure to head over to The Cutting Cafe Blog later on Wednesday afternoon for Inspiration Wednesday, where Regina will post all of this week’s design team projects. Check out the video…
It is all about girls this week at The Cutting Cafe! We used the All About Girls Printable Stamp Set this week and it is a lot of fun! There are tons of great sentiments and there are also images of clothes and girly things! I made this card for an 8-year-old who loves bling and glitter. So there is a lot of it on this card! I like the way it turned out though. Here are a few more photos…
Later today, stop by The Cutting Cafe’s Blog to see all the projects done by the design team. Leave a comment and you might win three free files of your choice! Thanks for stopping by and,,.here’s the video…
It is Christmas in July week for The Cutting Cafe! So in honor of this tradition, we had three Christmas files to choose from this week – Christmas Card Fun, Christmas Car Printable Stamp, and the one I chose, the Snow Globe Shaped Card. This file was so fun and it is super easy to do whether you cut it by hand (all the files come in a PDF version) or cut it by electronic methods (all files come in SVG, MTC, and other versions).
I used DCWV printed cardstock for the base. For the globe, I used DCWV glitter paper and then fussy cut the snowman from the Memories Never Melt stack from Recollections that I got at Michaels last year. On top of those two layers, I cut out a clear plastic layer from old Spellbinders packaging to give the feel of glass. The bow and green trim come with the file as do several sentiments that you can add around the globe. I added red tinsel to give it some texture and whimsy. Here are a few more shots of it…
This was a fun project and it will by my little god brother’s card this Christmas. Thanks for stopping by. Be sure to visit The Cutting Cafe Blog to see all the projects from the design team. Leave a comment to be eligible to win three free files (say that quickly three times) next week as Regina always pulls a winner from the previous week’s comments. Good luck! Before you go, check out the video…
This week at The Cutting Cafe, we used the Large Gift Bag file. I chose to use it for a baby mini album I am making for my staff person who recently had a baby. Previous post show the baby shower favors and this bag goes along with the theme of those items. It is somewhat simple but I did not want to over embellish it, but just wanted something to give the book to her in. When I add a cute handle and tissue paper it will be beautiful.
I reinforced the bottom with heavy cardstock. It is cut out in white cardstock and covered with patterned papers. I used teddy bear ribbon to trim the top and bottom along with some organza ribbon on the bottom. The little one is part of the file options.
Even though it is for a boy, I did use my favorite glitter tape on the edges!
Head on over to The Cutting Cafe Blog to see all the wonderful design team projects. Be sure to leave a comment and be eligible to win three free files in next week’s drawing!
