Green Birthday Cards – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Birthday Cards

This week at The Cutting Cafe, we focused on the color green and could use any files we chose. I pulled out some of my tools, like Spellbinders dies and some punches, that I had not used in a while to make birthday cards that showcase a couple of the many printable stamp sets available from the shop. I used the Birthday Fun Printable Stamp Set and the Birthday Greetings Inside and Out Printable Stamp Set.

For the first card, I used both sets.  The cake image is from Birthday Fun and the sentiment is from the greetings set.

Hourglass Shaker Birthday Card

Hourglass Birthday Shaker Card

Hourglass Birthday Shaker Card

We are shaking up some fun at The Cutting Cafe this week with a whole new line of shaker cards!  There are 13 different versions and you can find them all here!  I used the hourglass version to make a 50th birthday card for a friend.  Of course I used black and gold for the honor!  I kept the card very simple in hopes of making the shaker 50 and the hourglass the focal points.

Here are a few more pictures…

Shaker cards are really fun to make and easy once the intimidation factor wears off.  The Cutting Cafe helps you with that also as design team member Tmika did a video tutorial on how to make them which you can find here.

Make sure you head over to the blog Wednesday afternoon to see all of the new projects my fellow team members have created!  Be sure to leave a comment for a chance to win three files of your choice!  Thanks for stopping by.  Now, here is my video…

Craft Room Name Plate – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Craft Room Name Plate

I have wanted to make a name sign for my craft room and videos for a year now!  Well this week for my design team project for The Cutting Cafe, I used two wonderful new files to help me do so.  The Paper Flower Set and the Layered Flowers Set are two files Regina created to help all of us make some gorgeous flowers.  The layered set also includes some great cards!  My friend Tmika aka Scrapdaworld on YouTube also did a video to show you how to put the flowers together.  You can view it here.

I used the Paper Flower Set for the rose and the Layered Flowers Set for all the other flowers.  They were really easy to do!  Plus you can make them larger or smaller as there are many sizes in each file.  Plus Regina always makes the files in PDFs so anyone can use them by hand cutting the components.

I love how you can make the flower as many or as few layers as you choose which also gives you more variety.  I layered them in many ways and added zebra bling or pearls in the centers.  Here are a few more views…

Fun With Blocks Countdown Calendar – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Countdown Calendar

Countdown Calendar

This week at The Cutting Cafe, we had a fun file to spark our creative juices.  The Fun With Blocks file is so versatile and come with so many different options and variations!  The possibilities are just endless!  Make sure you check out all the design team projects on the blog on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday.  Be sure to leave a comment as you just might win three free files in next week’s drawing!

I chose to make a countdown calendar with the file.  The blocks are numbered on each side.  You can countdown to anything, a birthday, vacation, anniversary, etc.  All you do is move the blocks to show the numbers you need and go down a number each day.  I made it in a spring color since I am REALLY wanting spring to be here now.    Of course it is blinged out with mesh bling trim and glitter letters.  The sentiment says everything you can imaging is real.   I thought that would give me motivation for the countdown…whatever the countdown will be!  Here are a couple other views…

Valentine’s Day Cards

14 Feb

I thought I would take a few minutes to share the cards I made for Valentine’s Day.  I tried to keep it simple by using cutting files to save some time.  First up is the card I made for my wonderful hubby.  I always try to make something a little non-traditional for him.

This was a cute file I found in the Silhouette Online Store.  I just added a few stickers for embellishments and I was finished.  Next, I made a card for my parents…

This is made from the Valentine Window Card Tops file from The Cutting Cafe. This file is very versatile as it has about 15 versions of toppers you can use.  We actually used this file last week for our Design Team Project.  You can see many versions on the blog post.  The sentiment came from the Valentine Mini Sentiment Background Printable Stamp Set at the Cafe.  Next up is the card I made for my little god brother.

For this quick and easy card I use The Cutting Cafe’s I Heart U Word Shaped Card and the Feb. 14 Printable Stamp Set for the inside tag shaped sentiment.  Last but not least I made a card for my aunt whose birthday is on Valentine’s Day…

This is actually the second version of this card.  I made one for the design team project I mentioned above.  It is again using the Valentine Window Card Tops file that I used above for the xoxo card.  This is just another version of the tops included in the file.

Well, I hope you all will have a glorious Valentine’s Day.  Thank you so much for stopping by and here are a couple of my videos that showcase three of the cards…

Handmade Embellishment Box with Flower Headband – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Handmade Embellishment Box and Flower Headband

It is time for another design team project from The Cutting Cafe!  I needed a little gift for my god daughter’s first Valentine’s Day.  So I made a flower headband and packaged it in the Handmade Embellishment Box from The Cutting Cafe, which happened to be one of our project file choices this week.

I used black cardstock for the box and a pink patterned paper for the back or hanger part.  I used old product packaging for the window and added embellishments.  The bow is from the Bow Tie and Ribbon Set file, also from The Cutting Cafe.

The back is patterned as the paper was double-sided which gives a nice finish.  I love the hanger cut out as if you are making things for a store or a craft fair, you can package little items in this box.  Below is the headband.

I used gorgeous pink and black lace from Elegant Embellishments on Zibbet, and a handmade flower that my friend Tmika aka Scrapdaworld on YouTube had on a package she gave me.  I added some little pearls around the center and put the flower on a stretch ribbon to make the headband.

I love the way it turned out.  Please head over to The Cutting Cafe Blog to see all of the design team projects for this week.  Other files we could use were the Paper Beads file with the Jewelry Holder file.  Also, when you visit, leave a comment.  You will be entered in a drawing next week to win three free files of your choice!  Before you go, thank you for stopping by and here is my video…

This week at The Cutting Cafe, we were all given just one file to work with.  The great news is that this one file is very versatile and has many versions to choose from.  The Valentine Window Card Tops Template has many variations of heart shape cutouts and words.  I used one of the may heart versions for a quick and easy birthday card for my aunt.  Here are some other views…

I used K & Co patterned paper on the cover and Nikki Silvas paper on the inside.  I cut the topper of the card file out of American Craft silver metallic paper and used sentiments from other cutting cafe files.  I like the way it turned out.

The other files featuring Hershey Kisses that we had to choose from include the Hershey Kiss Window Card Template, Hershey Kiss Treat Box, Hershey Kiss Window Box, and the Hershey Kiss Window Box 2.

There will be many great projects posted Wednesday on The Cutting Cafe Blog using these great files.  Head over and take a look.  Make sure you leave a comment and you might just win three free files in the weekly drawing!  Thank you for stopping by!  Here is my video…
