Handmade Embellishment Box and Flower Headband

It is time for another design team project from The Cutting Cafe!  I needed a little gift for my god daughter’s first Valentine’s Day.  So I made a flower headband and packaged it in the Handmade Embellishment Box from The Cutting Cafe, which happened to be one of our project file choices this week.

I used black cardstock for the box and a pink patterned paper for the back or hanger part.  I used old product packaging for the window and added embellishments.  The bow is from the Bow Tie and Ribbon Set file, also from The Cutting Cafe.

The back is patterned as the paper was double-sided which gives a nice finish.  I love the hanger cut out as if you are making things for a store or a craft fair, you can package little items in this box.  Below is the headband.

I used gorgeous pink and black lace from Elegant Embellishments on Zibbet, and a handmade flower that my friend Tmika aka Scrapdaworld on YouTube had on a package she gave me.  I added some little pearls around the center and put the flower on a stretch ribbon to make the headband.

I love the way it turned out.  Please head over to The Cutting Cafe Blog to see all of the design team projects for this week.  Other files we could use were the Paper Beads file with the Jewelry Holder file.  Also, when you visit, leave a comment.  You will be entered in a drawing next week to win three free files of your choice!  Before you go, thank you for stopping by and here is my video…

Prima Doll Tag and Altered Domino Charm Swap

8 Feb

Prima Doll Tags

Prima Doll Tags

I participated in a fun swap hosted by my friend Tmika, who is Scrapdaworld on YouTube.  The swap was all about using some of the things that everybody just had to have, like the Prima Doll Stamps, dominos, or bottle caps.  I know I just had to have the doll stamps and I had not used one of them. They are so cute so I am not sure why I had not used them in some way!

The requirements were that you make a tag with a doll stamp and also make a coordinating charm with either a domino or bottlecap.  Since I had participated in a bottle cap charm swap last year, I chose to go with the domino. I did have to go and search for dominos to use as I had not gotten on the had to have thing with those!  Here is the back of the tags with the charms…

I decided that I would make each tag different instead of them being all the same.   It was a very fun process and I loved the way they turned out!  Now I am going to put you on photo overload with individual shots and my video!  Thanks for stopping by!

My One Hundreth Post – Dedicated to My Grandmother

7 Feb

I cannot believe it but this is my 100th post!  Wow that went fast.  I am dedicating this to the memory of my grandmother who just passed away last week.  My grandmother turned 103 on November 2 and was doing very well.  But she said she was tire and ready to go on.  So…she did.  I am sad, but also happy that she passed away with no pain and in total peace!  She will be missed but we have our memories to hold on to.

My dad wanted to do some photo boards and was just going to put pictures on a board until he thought about it and called me to see if I could do it.  I had a very busy work week this week and I drive 70 miles each way to work.  But, of course I found time to make these photo boards that will be displayed at her funeral tomorrow.  They are nothing overly decorated, just simple things that fous on the pictures.  Here are the three boards I made.

Birthday Love Card – Angle View

This week at The Cutting Cafe, we were all given just one file to work with.  The great news is that this one file is very versatile and has many versions to choose from.  The Valentine Window Card Tops Template has many variations of heart shape cutouts and words.  I used one of the may heart versions for a quick and easy birthday card for my aunt.  Here are some other views…

Sending You Kisses Birthday Card

This week at The Cutting Cafe we focused on Hershey’s Kisses!  I used the Hershey Kiss Shaped Card to make a birthday card for my husband’s aunt.  She loves chocolate so he sent her a box of chocolates and this card.

I used K & Co patterned paper on the cover and Nikki Silvas paper on the inside.  I cut the topper of the card file out of American Craft silver metallic paper and used sentiments from other cutting cafe files.  I like the way it turned out.

The other files featuring Hershey Kisses that we had to choose from include the Hershey Kiss Window Card Template, Hershey Kiss Treat Box, Hershey Kiss Window Box, and the Hershey Kiss Window Box 2.

There will be many great projects posted Wednesday on The Cutting Cafe Blog using these great files.  Head over and take a look.  Make sure you leave a comment and you might just win three free files in the weekly drawing!  Thank you for stopping by!  Here is my video…

Valentine’s Day is in the air…at least at The Cutting Cafe!  This week starts our valentine projects.  I chose to do an altered canvas with a photo of my god brother and my dog that he loves so much!  I used the Valentine’s Day Bingo Printable Stamps Set.  I used a background paper that has the bingo numbers on it, randomly added some texture paste, and some embellishments.  I love the way it turned out.

Snow Many Wishes Birthday Card – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Snow Many Wishes Birthday Card

Snow Many Wishes Birthday Card

I’m back with another design team project for The Cutting Cafe!  This week we had several files to choose from.  But because I am in the midwest and we just have been bombarded with snowfall after snowfall (not to mention up to 50 degree below zero wind chills), I decided to use the Snow Word Shaped Card for my project.

I have an aunt whose birthday is this week so I am sending her “snow many wishes for a happy birthday”!  I wanted the card to be shiny and sparkling and achieved this by using Recollections Mercury Glass paper from this year’s Christmas line at Michaels for the base, Cloud Nine pearlescent shimmer paper for the topper word, and DCWV glitter paper for the final topper pieces which look like they are dripping at the bottom.  I added some glitter snowflakes I punched out with a Fiskars punch and used a holographic type red dot in the centers.  I also added a silver and gold glittered present shaped sticker.  Here are more views…

I loved the way it turned out!  Snow, snow, snow…

OK…really I am saying no more snow!  Enough is enough!  But I digress.  The other files that we could use this week were the Rainbow Shaped Card Set, the Rain Boots Shaped Card Template, and the Fun With Snowflake Template File.  So with so many files to choose from, the weekly post of design team projects on The Cutting Cafe’s Blog is going to be awesome!  There is sure to be a lot of variety.  So head on over there and check it out.  AND, while you are there, leave a comment!  Number one, we love reading them, and number 2 you will be entered into a drawing for next week to win three free files of your choice.  Don’t miss out on your chance every week!

Well, time to say goodbye for now but watch for upcoming Valentine’s Day projects!  Before you go, here is this week’s video.  Thanks for stopping by!

This week was another free week so we could choose any file we wanted. I chose to use two files, the Blessed Word Shaped Card and the You’re In My Thoughts Greetings Inside and Out Printable Stamp Set, which has all the sentiments I used.

December Card Making Event

4 Jan

Last month I did a post about a card demo I was doing for my husband’s organization’s holiday party.  Between leaving for vacation a couple of days after the event and Christmas, I never got a chance to post pictures from the event.  All attendees were asked to bring a toy donation for admission which would be given to a local charity.

I held a card making session during the event.  Attendees could make a card and the charity that received the toys would give the cards out with the toys.

Once finished with their card, attendees were asked to hang their cards on display board with mini clothes pins.  We then held a contest to pick three winners and awarded them restaurant gift cards.  In the beginning it was slow going but then people warmed up to the idea of making a card and then it got competitive!  Once they got started they really got into it.  I had a great time doing it.  And, there were some awesome cards made and I was mentally scraplifting a lot of ideas!

Here are some photos…
