Valuable Treasure Birthday Card

Valuable Treasure Birthday Card

This week at The Cutting Cafe we are focusing on gratitude! We could use the Grateful Word Shaped Card or the With Gratitude Printable Stamp Set which is what I used.  For this card for my mother-in-law, I layered patterned papers from Teresa Collins and used the treasure sentiment from the stamp set.  I layered and Stickled flowers also.  I like the way it turned out.  Here are more views…

25th Anniversary Pillow Box – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

25th Anniversary Pillow Box

25th Anniversary Pillow Box

Pillow boxes are so versatile as they can be made in multiple sizes and decorated any way you like.  They can have window cut outs or they can be plain and they make great goodie holders!  This week at The Cutting Cafe, we worked with the different pillow box files Regina has available.  I used the Assorted Pillow Box Set and it is very versatile in that you can just make it plain, or you can add various shaped windows such as a circle, star, or frame like I used.

For my project, I used striped and polka dot glitter papers from DCWV, an Anna Griffin vellum sticker, some flowers, a butterfly, and Thickers to decorate the box.  Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the back which said happy anniversary but you can see it in the video below.  I gave it to one of my staff with a gift card for her 25th work anniversary.

It is time for another design team project for The Cutting Cafe!  This week I made a gift for a staff person who has worked hard to get my projects completed with short notice.  I used the Candy Corn Treat Box file along with one of the three feature files for the week, The Crazy Candy Corn Printable Stamp Set.  The other two files that we could use were the Bunch of Monsters Printable Stamp Set and the Halloween Trio Printable Stamp Set.

Happy Fall Card

Happy Fall Card

This week we focused on Fall at The Cutting Cafe!  I loved Fall so I had a great time with this card.  We had a choice of three files to work with:

Welcome Fall Printable Stamp Set (I got the tree from this file)
Acorn Shaped Card (I used the circle sentiment from this file)
Fall Word Shaped Card

I also used the Garden Stand Up Set  for the grass.

I love the bling leaves and how they added a colorful element to the card.  I used patterned paper from My Mind’s Eye and Fancy Pants.    If you want more info on how I made the card, here is the video…

Apple Treat Box – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Apple Treat Box

Apple Treat Box

This week at The Cutting Cafe we had a back-to-school theme with a choice of files featuring apples, school busses, pencils and other school themed items.  We could use the Bus Shaped Card, the School Borders Printable Stamp Set, or the Apple Treat Box which I used.

This file is very easy and can be done easily by hand, so you do not need to have an electronic cutting machine.  That is one great thing about Regina’s files…they come in multiple formats including PDFs so that those without an an electronic cutter can still make beautiful items!

I used a cute orchard patterned paper, some bling leaves, bling mesh trim, and a woodgrain patterned ribbon.  I finished it with a rust color leaf, a gold bow and a thanks sentiment.   Here are a few other views:

My project features the Suitcase Mini Book file.  Please leave a comment below and I will randomly select a winner on Saturday (have comments made by noon central time) to receive the file!  How exciting is that?!  If you are hopping along in order, you should have come here from Lisa Minckler’s blog.  If not, head to the beginning of the hop with Regina Easter’s blog.  Just in case you get lost, follow the order below:

Regina Easter – Begin Here!

Now here is my project…

Suitcase Mini Book Altered Frame

Suitcase Mini Book Altered Frame

I have created an altered picture frame using the Suitcase Mini Book to add more photos (there are five pages under the decorated cover of the suitcase).  I used K & Company’s Around the World by Brenda Walton paper and embellishments.  I added my own sentiment, which I punched out with a scalloped square punch.  The corners and handle also come in the file.  The straps come in the file also, but I did not use them, instead using a snakeskin pattern ribbon.  I used tiny flat back pearls as the rivets and framed pearl brads to hold all the pages together at the handles.  This was a fun project!  Here are a couple more views…

High Heel Shoe Birthday Card The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

14 Aug
High Heel Shoe Birthday Card

High Heel Shoe Birthday Card

This week’s file from The Cutting Cafe was definitely up my alley!  I love shoes and purses (hint hint) and this High Heel Shoe Shaped Card is the bomb, the business (ode to Shanta), and just plain fantastic!  There are many layers and sentiments to help you make this your own.  I could make 50 of them and they would all end up looking very different depending on the layers I use and the papers.  Unfortunately, the picture does not really do it justice.  The card is just awesome and the person I gave it to most definitely thought so!

I used a black shimmer cardstock with lime green and silver polka dot glitter paper, and a light green for the base and insole.  I used some sunburst punches on the heel to give it a peek-a-boo effect and show some of the glitter paper.  I used a glitter flower and a ribbon slider and mint green half back pearl to finish the bows.  I absolutely love this card and will be making more of them very soon!  Here are a few more pics…

Baby Boy Large Gift Bag – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

17 Jul
Baby Boy Large Gift Bag

Baby Boy Large Gift Bag

This week at The Cutting Cafe, we used the Large Gift Bag file.  I chose to use it for a baby mini album I am making for my staff person who recently had a baby.  Previous post show the baby shower favors and this bag goes along with the theme of those items.  It is somewhat simple but I did not want to over embellish it, but just wanted something to give the book to her in.  When I add a cute handle and tissue paper it will be beautiful.

I reinforced the bottom with heavy cardstock.  It is cut out in white cardstock and covered with patterned papers.  I used teddy bear ribbon to trim the top and bottom along with some organza ribbon on the bottom.  The little one is part of the file options.

Even though it is for a boy, I did use my favorite glitter tape on the edges!

Dresser Box – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Dresser Box

Dresser Box

This week for The Cutting Cafe, the theme was boxes!  We had a choice of three files to work with, the Card Organizer  Box, the Copic Box, and the Dresser Box which I used.  This file was so fun.  I decided to try giving it a masculine feel but I am going to make another one and really girlie it up!  Here are a couple more views…

I used a specialty paper (really it is plastic) from Michaels to cover the box and drawers.  The knobs are from balsa boxes from Michaels.  I actually made the little lamp from a file from SVG Files.  I just shrunk it down to 30% of the original size and that worked perfectly!  The mirror is Tim Holtz’s mirror paper.  It works like a charm.
