High Heel Shoe Birthday Card The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

High Heel Shoe Birthday Card

High Heel Shoe Birthday Card

This week’s file from The Cutting Cafe was definitely up my alley!  I love shoes and purses (hint hint) and this High Heel Shoe Shaped Card is the bomb, the business (ode to Shanta), and just plain fantastic!  There are many layers and sentiments to help you make this your own.  I could make 50 of them and they would all end up looking very different depending on the layers I use and the papers.  Unfortunately, the picture does not really do it justice.  The card is just awesome and the person I gave it to most definitely thought so!

I used a black shimmer cardstock with lime green and silver polka dot glitter paper, and a light green for the base and insole.  I used some sunburst punches on the heel to give it a peek-a-boo effect and show some of the glitter paper.  I used a glitter flower and a ribbon slider and mint green half back pearl to finish the bows.  I absolutely love this card and will be making more of them very soon!  Here are a few more pics…

We did have another file we could use this week and it is really cute too.  The Vintage Boot Shaped Card is really nice to make a shabby chic card with.  Well thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to head over to The Cutting Cafe Blog later on Wednesday afternoon for Inspiration Wednesday, where Regina will post all of this week’s design team projects.  Check out the video…

All About Girls Girly Girl Card

All About Girls Girly Girl Card

It is all about girls this week at The Cutting Cafe!  We used the All About Girls Printable Stamp Set this week and it is a lot of fun!  There are tons of great sentiments and there are also images of clothes and girly things!  I made this card for an 8-year-old who loves bling and glitter.  So there is a lot of it on this card!  I like the way it turned out though.  Here are a few more photos…

Baby Boy Large Gift Bag – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

17 Jul
Baby Boy Large Gift Bag

Baby Boy Large Gift Bag

This week at The Cutting Cafe, we used the Large Gift Bag file.  I chose to use it for a baby mini album I am making for my staff person who recently had a baby.  Previous post show the baby shower favors and this bag goes along with the theme of those items.  It is somewhat simple but I did not want to over embellish it, but just wanted something to give the book to her in.  When I add a cute handle and tissue paper it will be beautiful.

I reinforced the bottom with heavy cardstock.  It is cut out in white cardstock and covered with patterned papers.  I used teddy bear ribbon to trim the top and bottom along with some organza ribbon on the bottom.  The little one is part of the file options.

Even though it is for a boy, I did use my favorite glitter tape on the edges!

Dresser Box – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

Dresser Box

Dresser Box

This week for The Cutting Cafe, the theme was boxes!  We had a choice of three files to work with, the Card Organizer  Box, the Copic Box, and the Dresser Box which I used.  This file was so fun.  I decided to try giving it a masculine feel but I am going to make another one and really girlie it up!  Here are a couple more views…

I used a specialty paper (really it is plastic) from Michaels to cover the box and drawers.  The knobs are from balsa boxes from Michaels.  I actually made the little lamp from a file from SVG Files.  I just shrunk it down to 30% of the original size and that worked perfectly!  The mirror is Tim Holtz’s mirror paper.  It works like a charm.

Classic Car Shaped Father’s Day Card – The Cutting Cafe Design Team Project

12 Jun
Classic Car Shaped Card

Classic Car Shaped Card

It is Wednesday and time for another Cutting Cafe design team project. This week’s theme…Father’s Day of course.  We had wonderful files to work with this week.  I chose to use the new Classic Car Shaped Card and it was so much fun to do!  I absolutely love the shaped of the card, and all the trim that comes in the file.  I chose to use silver metallic paper for all of the chrome and I added white-walled tires!  The possibilities are endless with this file because there are so many pieces.

The other files we could use were the Shirt and Tie Cutting File  Template Shaped Card, and the Cruisin’ by to Say Hi Car Set Printable Stamps.

Be sure to stop by The Cutting Cafe Blog every Wednesday afternoon to see all of the design team projects.  If you leave a comment, you will be eligible to win three free files in the next week’s drawing!  Thanks for stopping by!

My First Mixed Media Canvas!

9 Jun

I have been watching mixed media projects on YouTube for months and have been saying I am going to do one someday.  Well someday finally happened!  I did one for my dad for Father’s Day.  It was a process, but I am happy with the way it turned out for the most part.  I will start with showing you the photo of some of the elements I chose to use and the piece once I put the texture on and glued the elements on and covered it with gesso…

Once the three layers of gesso was dry, I painted it with acrylic paint and Lindy’s Stamp Gang, and Tattered Angels sprays.  The finished canvas looked like…

I used a lot of elements but did not use any flowers since it was for my dad and featured a little boy.  Here are a few close up photos of the gesso phase and the completed project.

Happy Mail from Tmika

Yesterday I got a surprise in the mail!  My YouTube friend Tmika aka Scrapdaworld on YT sent some items that she made!  Thank you Tmika!  I have been getting to know Tmika through YT and she has hosted several swaps I have participated in and she is also on The Cutting Cafe Design Team with me.  I used to watch her videos, along with Sheryl aka Gemzile and wanted to be a part of The Cutting Cafe team.  I tried it and made it so they were and still are great crafting inspiration to me.

I think her projects are wonderful.  Here are a few close ups…

Items for Hubby’s Board of Directors Celebration and Other Projects

21 May

This past week I worked on several projects.  So let’s start with the biggest project first.

Items For Husband's Board Celebration

Items For Husband’s Board Celebration

Hubby asked me to make a card for a Board member who won the national volunteer of the year award for the organization he works for.  The card evolved into a card, place cards with the Chicago skyline, a mailbox with the skyline and note cards for the other Board members to write notes of thanks to the award recipient, and a certificate.  Everything turned out nicely and his Board loved them, but more importantly, he loved them!  Here are some individual pictures…

Next up, a card I made for my cousin’s 30th birthday…

And, lastly, I have a couple of additions to the baby shower items I made.  I created a money holder, which I used as a holder for a certificate for a custom mini album I will make for the baby, and a gift card holder.  Both are from the Word Gift Card and Money Holders Template Cutting File from The Cutting Cafe.  I loved the way they turned out!
